There are many reasons to install a camera in your home. Maybe you are suspicious of your babysitter, you’re paranoid about burglars or you think the neighbor kid may be breaking in and stealing food from your kitchen. Whatever the reason, it’s always worth your while to install a couple of home security cameras. The first thing you need to do however is to decide where to put the cameras.

Here are a few tips on how to decide where to put your home security cameras:

1.) Put the camera behind a small hole in a painting, or by a toy that is high on a shelf and rarely used.
2.) Hide the camera near a plant, in a hole in the wall, or in a small hole in the trim around the ceiling.
3.) Hide the camera alongside the television or in a couch cushion if you’re going to put your camera in the living room.
4.) Secure the camera under a rafter in the garage ceiling.

When burglars are casing your home for a potential robbery, they are looking for a few basic requirements. In 30 percent of robberies, burglars enter a residence through an open door or window. They are also making sure the home is worth robbing. For this reason it is important to keep valuables out of plain site. Instead of leaving out in the open, put it into a concealed safe.

These criminals also look for entrances to your home that are dark or hidden by bushes. Removing shrubbery from around doors and windows and installing outdoor lighting are good ways to make the entrances to your home less attractive to criminals. Burglars also want an ease of entry. The longer it takes them to enter your home, the less likely a burglar will enter. Installing heavy-duty deadbolts on each door lock will offer a good amount of resistance.

So you’ve finally graduated from your self-defense class.  You feel more confident that you can defend yourself from attackers.  But why take the chance?  It’s always better to be safe than sorry.  Get yourself one of the many self-defense weapons available in the market today.

Pepper spray foam is one of the most popular self-defense weapon purchases.  It dispenses thick foam that will effectively coat the attacker’s face. Since it is in foam form, it’s more difficult to remove.  Once this foam is rubbed in to the skin, the mucous membranes will start to swell causing the attacker to involuntarily close his eyes.  This then gives you ample amount of time to either run away or call for help.

We can all agree that personal safety is important.  One has to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.  Whether you prefer learning martial arts or getting a self-defense weapon, you have to be responsible for the actions that you take.  Some self-defense weapons come with restrictions and regulations.  They are in place both for the safety of the carrier and the general public.

Pepper spray for instance.  There are a number of pepper spray regulations that you should remember.  Before buying a pepper spray, you have to check if there are special provisions in your state regarding them.  For example, in some states, you can only purchase pepper spray from licensed firearm dealers.  In other states, there are restrictions on size, strength and carrying procedures.

With the crime rate soaring and the inevitability of getting attacked increasing, it is always wise to take the necessary steps to protect ourselves.  One such step is to arm ourselves with protective yet non-lethal devices that could aid us if we ever encounter an attacker.  The pepper shot is a kind of pepper spray, only smaller but with a powerful punch nonetheless. It rates at 2 million scoville heat units and the grain is finer than most pepper sprays.  This makes the pepper shot very effective in warding off an attacker.

It works much like the pepper spray.  It releases an inflammatory agent that when introduced to the eyes causes the veins to swell therefore causing them to close involuntarily.  It also affects the breathing, making it more difficult and labored.  Pepper shots are made with quick release keys and safety locking mechanisms.  They can be snapped on as key chains and often times come with their own case for ease of storage.

It is the ultimate all in one instrument that combines security and preparedness.  The stun flashlight is not only a self-defense weapon; it is also a great addition to any tool box or tool kit.  It is lightweight, easy to use and affordable.  It is so useful; a lot of police departments are getting ready to replace their bulky flashlights with this lighter, more useful model.  Most versions run on one battery and even have loops at the end to make it easier to handle.

The stun flashlight can work two ways.  The powerful light can momentarily disorient an attacker.  And if that’s not enough the stun feature can and will do the trick.  Some versions even come equipped with a siren.  Surely, with this device on hand, you will feel safer and more secure.

Why did the chicken cross the road? Now there is a question with a million different answers…all of them right and all of them wrong. The truth is chickens have very short attention spans. Unless they are laying an egg, in which case their attention span is directly related to the amount of time it takes to lay an egg. As for crossing the road, the chicken is not even aware that it is crossing the road. Hence the term ‘road kill’.

Yesterday I had to run a few errands around town. The distance covered was about 7 miles. No less than 3 people, fully grown adults, without looking, walked out in front of my car while they were crossing the street. Naturally, I had to hit the brake to avoid running them over. I don’t mind….I brake for animals too. This happens just about every day. People walk out in traffic while talking on the cell phone, talking to themselves or some invisible being, or just not paying attention.

The reason does not matter…the results do. If you are on foot, look out for cars, trucks, fire engines, tanks, whatever. If you are driving, watch out for pedestrians….they are fragile and delicate. Be safe.

Protecting your home from burglars and other criminals doesn’t have to set you back by hundreds or thousands of dollars.  There are home security systems today that are totally effective and reliable and best of all, affordable.

The Mace wireless home security system is one of them.  It is tops in both usefulness and value.  This wireless motion sensor alarm can be set up quickly and effortlessly and only requires a Wireless Home Security System A landline with “tone” dialing to work, but will give you the protection and peace of mind you seek.  With it in place, suspicious movement is immediately detected, along with the opening of a door or a window in your home.  When this happens, the alarm is activated, sending a signal to the base unit, which in turn dials one of the preset numbers on your programmed list.  If there is no answer, it will dial the next number on the list, and will keep on trying up to the fifth listed number.

It’s always a good idea to have some kind of protection on hand, especially if you’re a woman living in an urban area.  It’s even better if the type of protection you are carrying is light and inconspicuous, and something that would completely surprise a would-be attacker like a pocket pepper spray.

By its very name, a pocket pepper spray is a weapon that’s small enough to fit in one’s pocket.  A perfect example of this is a lipstick pepper spray.  Designed specifically for women, this diminutive form of protection looks exactly like an ordinary tube of lipstick on the outside, but contains a potent pepper formula on the inside.  It holds 5 one second bursts and impressively sprays up to 6 feet.  Moreover, the lipstick pepper spray is available in five fashionable colors: black, silver, red, blue and pink, and is super convenient to take along anytime and anywhere.  With a pocket pepper spray, no one can tell that you’re carrying a self-defense weapon even if you have your pockets searched or show all the contents of your bag.  Then again, what’s important is that you’re always armed and ready against muggers, criminals and other unsavory beings.

Everyone uses tools on a daily basis. From the silverware we eat with to the computer you are reading this on, our lives are full of tools that we use to do all sorts of different things. Most of these tools are so familiar that their use is second nature to us and we don’t even have to think about when or how to use them. Also, they are not normally used to protect or save our lives.

If you own or are going to buy a pepper spray, consider that it is a tool that might be used to protect or save you or someone else from being harmed by another person or an animal. Since a life could depend on it, you should know the facts about defense sprays and how to use them. There are different types ( OC Pepper, CN Tear Gas, combinations with UV Dyes ) as well as spray, foam liquid stream and foam type delivery available. Its not complicated, but knowing a few basics could be the difference between having protection and having a problem.
